Cultural notes today:
Not many people drive cars(at least not in Tokyo). They are really expensive, and if you have something older than the newest model, the tax on just having a car is much higher. As a result there is a LOT of public transportation, which is done very efficiently.
No one tips in Japan, and the service, on average, is much better. Trying to tip here would only result in making people feel uncomfortable.
There are NO trashcans. That's a lie, but they are really hard to find, despite there being a lot of vending machines. The only recycle and trash areas seem to be at the vending machine area, and a few at the train stations. Japanese people don't tend to eat and drink while they walk as much as we do, all of us seem to accumulate a lot of trash on us and celebrate finding a trash can.
